The Beginning

Well, I'm staring at an empty page, wondering how one even begins to write a blog... I haven't really seen that many in the beginning stages-- they're usually so established that I never even see the very first post. Maybe they're all awkward... or maybe it's just me.

My husband thought I should start blogging so that I warm up my writing skills... it's been more than a year since I wrote anything besides Facebook statuses and cover letters. I'm not sure I'm interesting enough to blog regularly. Well, I'm sure I can find something to write about now and again, but whether or not anyone will actually read it...well, I guess I'll find out.

So here's what's going on... the last couple days I hit some rummage sales looking for baby clothes, since the kid grows out of everything so fast. Yesterday was great weather for it... a little breezy, but still comfortable. Today was not so nice-- it was rainy and cold. I drove a half an hour to get to one multi-family sale that was advertised as "do not miss" and wouldn't you know, they had the whole darn thing packed up and taken down by the time I got there (having worked in marketing, I should have known better than to fall for "do not miss"). I figure that was at least an hour of work to pack everything up, and I got there 30 minutes before it was advertised to end, so it must have been close to 2 hours before the official end time when they decided they were done. Is it just me, or is that a little rude (and kind of stupid-- hello, paying customer here)? Luckily I found another sale that also had baby clothes and found 3 cute dresses, a halloween costume (ladybug), a skirt, a pair of shorts, a pair of jeans and a really fancy, dressy onesie sort of thing... and paid less than $5... very satisfying.

It was a nice drive out there, despite the rain. I took a road that I had never been on before, otherwise I ususally take a main highway to get to that city. It was a lovely scenic drive that wove around a couple rivers and I found a nature trail that I'm going to have to investigate. Aside from the disappointment of missing something that was not to be missed, it was a pretty successful adventure.

Tonight I made stuffed green pepper soup for dinner. I did a little recipe browsing and then took what I found there and made my own version. It was pretty good, but the flavors haven't blended yet... it's going to be amazing tomorrow!

So I've got a little time before I HAVE to go to bed. I'm debating between watching a couple shows I DVR'd, reading a book I've had from the library for a couple weeks or making these energy bars. I guess you'll find out in my next post of miscellaneous stuff...
